To save time and costs, it is important that you provide us with as much relevant information as possible at the earliest opportunity, for example:
|
|
| Make notes of the problem you wish to address, how the problem has evolved and what steps, if any, you have taken to resolve it; | |
| Take along copies of any documents which relate to the problem; | |
| Try to get clear in your mind your attitude to the problem and possible solutions; | |
| If there has been a complex history of the matter, try to summarise in date order what has happened: give exact details of names, places, important conversations which took place and whether any authorities were involved eg: police, courts, Department of Human Services, medical practitioners or any support agencies; | |
| The following copy documents are usually required: children's birth certificates, marriage certificate, health care or pension concession card, latest superannuation statement, market appraisal of matrimonial home, latest mortgage statement, intervention orders, Family Law orders or any other court orders; | |
| At the first meeting don't be afraid to ask how much the matter is likely to cost. The solicitor will be able to give you an idea of the estimated costs of the matter. | |
