Your family lawyer
The experienced Family Lawyer can provide hope for clients who are at the time going through great sadness. The Lawyer can show the client that there is an end to the dispute and there is a future.
A good Family Lawyer must apply common sense. It is not only about the law. In addition to the law, the Family Lawyer must be able to assess the human needs of the client in a common sense fashion and find common sense solutions.
In Family Law there are many issues about which there is disagreement. The experienced Family Lawyer will distinguish the issues that need to be contested from those which do not. If you are in the midst of a Family Law dispute, it is very difficult for you to distinguish what are the issues from mere distractions or annoyances. Your Family Lawyer must be able to advise you about what is really important and what is not. At times, I sit in the Family Court looking at Lawyers presenting issues to a Judge for determination which should not be there at all. Why are these matters before the Court? They are of no consequence. They are brought to the Court as a result of inexperience, at great expense to the client and should not have been.
Your Family Lawyer must be skilled in the law; have common sense; have the ability to make decisions; be able to communicate with you; give advice which you understand, and fill you with hope for the future. These qualities are essential in a Family Lawyer Knowledge of the law without common sense will not achieve practical results. An inability to distinguish important issues from the unimportant will result in mismanagement of your matter and unnecessary costs. An ability to decide when to contest an issue and when to concede will focus on the important, rather than spend money on the unimportant.
Clear advice in understandable language will give you hope and achieve outcomes in the difficult time of a marriage or relationship breakdown.
There are experienced Family Lawyers available to you. It is important that you conduct your own checklist and identify the essential qualities you need from your lawyer.
